Sports Minister Anselem Sanyatwe visited golfers hospitalized after a serious crash on Saturday at the intersection of Samora Machel Avenue and Seventh Street.

HARARE – Sports Minister Anselem Sanyatwe visited golfers hospitalized after a serious crash on Saturday at the intersection of Samora Machel Avenue and Seventh Street.

The four injured — Zimbabweans Tonderai Masunga and Biggie Chibvuri (the driver), Victor Kachepatsonga of Malawi, and Lucky Ayisa of Ghana — are receiving treatment at Kensington Medical Centre.

The tragic accident also claimed the life of Zimbabwean professional golfer Morton Kombai, just hours after the 2025 FBC Zimbabwe Open concluded in Harare, overshadowing a historic day for the tournament.

Sanyatwe was recently retired from the army and appointed Sports minister as a replacement for Kirsty Coventry who was elected International Olympics Committe (IOC) president recently.

The new minister has charmed the hearts of many with his proactive approach which has seen progress at the National Sports Stadium currently being renovated.
