Sikhala, Sithole denied bail for allegedly inciting violence in Nyatsime

Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) MPs Job Sikhala and Godfrey Sithole accused of inciting public violence at Moreblessing Ali's funeral in Chitungwiza were this week denied bail.

HARARE – Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) MPs Job Sikhala and Godfrey Sithole accused of inciting public violence at Moreblessing Ali’s funeral in Chitungwiza were this week denied bail.

In his ruling, Deputy Chief Magistrate Gibson Mandaza found that Sikhala breached his bail conditions, which prohibited him from posting material on social media that could incite public violence, in a similar case pending in court.

He also noted that both were men of influence and could not be trusted with their freedom as they would most likely commit similar crimes.

Sikhala is the lawyer of the late Moreblessing Ali’s family and the latest arrest may jeopardise his efforts to push for justice on the murder case of the late by suspected Zanu PF members.

The two CCC MPs accused of inciting public violence in Nyatsime, where houses and shops were destroyed, have been remanded in custody until the 6th of next month.
