South African actor Mncedisi Shabanga dies aged 53

South African multi award-winning actor and director Mncedisi Shabanga has died aged 53 after complaining of chest pains.

PRETORIA – South African multi award-winning actor and director Mncedisi Shabanga has died aged 53 after complaining of chest pains.

The Shabangu family confirmed his death in a statement and said the former Rhythm City actor died on Sunday morning.

Family spokesman Mthokozisi Shabangu said the family was saddened by the death of the actor and grateful for all the words of support received since news of his death was announced.

“He died in the early hours of the morning. The family appreciates all condolences and asks for privacy at this difficult time. Memorial and funeral arrangements will be announced soon,” Shabangu said.

Mncedisi Shabangu popularly called Khulekani was best known for his roles in the television programs Rhythm City, Home Sweet Home and The Lab which endeared him with film lovers.
