HARARE – A great wind has been blowing into the MDC Alliance tent led by the vibrant youthful leader Nelson Chamisa amid reports of a nasty fallout between the incumbent and Secretary General Douglas Mwonzora, RosGwen24 News can reveal.

The division which has resurfaced as a mere ‘divide and rule’ plot by the Zanu PF regime through the state-media in Zimbabwe has spread flames to the opposition tanker amid reports of growing mistrust between the two MDC Alliance big brains.

It has been alleged that Mwonzora who at one time managed to beat Chamisa to the SG post at the 2016 party congress when the late Morgan Tsvangirai was still the man in charge, is angling to wrestle the party’s presidency through the upcoming congress.

Mwonzora has bluntly dismissed the reports as malicious rumors but this hasn’t stopped the Zanu PF regime from tipping him as the ideal candidate ahead of Chamisa with the War Veterans being the recent choirboys to sing aloud the “Mwonzora for Presidency “ tune at the presser held in the capital today.

It is not the first time that Mwonzora has been touted as the rightful party leader, as this year during the untimely death of founding president Tsvangirai, his name was throne in the ring of possible party steward.

Mwonzora, however, has always refuted all those claims and today took it to the microblogging site Twitter to stand out his position.

“Listened with shock the War Vets presser on the MDC leadership. They don’t hold my brief. MDC leaders are never chosen by War Vets. This is an unnecessary distraction. We are concentrating on the major national battle in the Constitutional Court tomorrow,” Mwonzora wrote.

After this tweet an unlikely response from Patson Dzamara who is a well known Chamisa loyalist sent more questions than answers on the current settings within the Chamisa led movement.

Dzamara quickly replied, “You did the right thing here speaking against such machinations and sly orchestrations in public. Here is hoping you do the same in private my dear SG.”

The response raised eyebrows on the goings on in the MDC camp as this publication has it on record that some structures within the party have already begun sourcing support for a Mwonzora presidency basing their argument on his maturity and calmness.

This plot is however expected to fail considering the majority support Chamisa currently enjoys all over the country and beyond.
