HARARE – Versatile artist Elcee Gweja is making waves on the music front following the release of his song “Dofo” off the charts topping Mhemberero Riddim produced by DJ Cymplex.

The talented chanter featured on the much discussed Zimdancehall riddim in which he laid out issues of being looked down upon and being called a nonentity because of failure.

“Takakura tichitambura tisu vemarengenya, vakawanda vaitiseka tichipfeka masaga. Izvo zvishoma zvandinazvo wangu idikita, kukura kwangu sha” the song goes in one part.

The artist then goes on to talk about how the hardship have since disappeared and are now a thing of the past because God has changed the narrative for better.

Elcee Gweja, real name, Lazarus Chipangura has for a long time shown glimpse of being a force in the music industry with one song that put him on the limelight being Akandikona somewhere in 2015.

In that song, Elcee Gweja rebuked the late Soul Jah Love and Seh Calaz following their ugly wars which ended up spilling into a fist fight at City Sports Centre during a Zimdancehall Sting Clash.

He has been known for alternating between genres and producing excellent projects in the process, something that is true of the “Dofo” track.

Elcee Gweja who grew up in the mining town of Shurugwi said his upbringing inspires the songs he produces which is evident in the latest song that is receiving a fair attention online.

“I grew up in a mining town where I spent most of my time meeting people from different backgrounds and learning about different cultures. During those days I gained musical experiences that ultimately created the person I am today,” he said.

Some of the song he has released include “Hauna Moyo” , “Kajongwe” featuring Crazy P, “Hanzi Vakambouya” , “Ginimbi” and “Bambo Mkuru” featuring Nox Guni among others.
