HARARE – A legal appeal by Cosam Chiyangwa challenging the appointment of Amon Madawo as the leader of Apostolic Faith Mission (AFM) was dismissed by Supreme Court on Friday.

The ruling was delivered by a supreme court panel led by Justice Samuel Kudya.

“In regards to the second issue another dictum of the court aquo that the applicant did conjoin the main relief that they sought in the second application with the consequential relief of an interdict cum vindication was incorrect,” said the Justice Kudya in his ruling.

“However, as the fifth ground of appeal which related to this issue was improperly conceived, it is struck out..Accordingly, it is ordered that the fifth ground of appeal is hereby struck out. The appeal be and is hereby dismissed in its entirety with costs.”

The appeal by Chiyangwa, was necessitated by a High Court ruling in 2019, which declared Amon Madawo the legitimate leader of AFM church. It was handed down by Justice David Mangota.

The latest ruling effectively settles the nasty leadership wrangle in the AFM with Chiyangwa ordered to return all church property and cease to identify himself as the leadership.
