HARARE – A recent study by London-based SABI Strategy Group shows that Zimbabwe opposition MDC Alliance leader Douglas Mwonzora is the most “hated” politician in the nation.
SABI Strategy Group’s poll, which was performed in January and used a detailed 15-minute questionnaire for Brenthurst Foundation, reveals that Mwonzora has the highest unfavorability among the public figures surveyed.
55% of people surveyed claimed they did not like Mwonzora. Other despised politicians include President Emmerson Mnangagwa (41%), Vice President Constantino Chiwenga (46%) and Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube (47%).
Among the major political parties evaluated, Mwonzora’s party, the MDC, has the lowest favorability ratings.
The percentage of people who disapproved of the party was 55%, while ZANU PF finished in second place with 45% and Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) with 27%.
Nelson Chamisa, the leader of the CCC, received a favorability rating of 59%, while Mnangagwa came in second with 43%, just ahead of Tendai Biti, a CCC legislator and a former Zimbabwe finance minister.
Voters preferred the opposing party, the CCC, by a margin of 47% to 33% of ZANU PF, believing it would lead more efficiently.
