HARARE - President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Tuesday appointed ailing Vice President Constantino Chiwenga as the new minister of Health, replacing Obadiah Moyo who was fired over corruption scandal involving covid-19 funds abuse.

The factional dogfights in the Zimbabwe’s ruling party Zanu-PF are expected to go a notch higher with the Cosleg faction largely backed by military personnel reportedly pushing for the elevation of former Defence and Security minister Sydney Sekeremayi.

A bid by former Zanu PF youth leaders to force the Prosecutor General’s (PG) office to release minutes pertaining to operation restore legacy, which saw former President Robert Mugabe relinquishing power in November 2017, hit a snag after prosecutors argued there were no minutes to speak of as Mugabe was not overthrown.
