FC Platinum confidently breezed past Whawha again in the Chibuku Super Cup, winning 4-0 at Mandava Stadium. Gift Mbweti, Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya and Donald Teguru were the scorers.

It was not meant to be that easy, but FC Platinum were just irrepressible strolling to a victory once more against Whawha in the Chibuku Super Cup – the second time they have done so to date in the year 2021 and harvesting 10 goals.

Gift Mbweti playing in an advanced role just behind the main striker opened the scoring and then Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya and Donald Teguru added two more just before halftime, putting Pure Platinum Play well in control.

Donald Teguru notched a second in the 62th minute the best of the four goals, curling a beauty into the top far corner. While it finished 4-0, it could have been a few more.

In truth, FC Platinum made it look far simpler than it was; this is a Whawha side that is improving, and with a number of new players among their ranks.

That should not be forgotten, but ultimately, FC Platinum were comfortable and deserving winners, placing themselves one point behind Group 4 leaders Ngezi Platinum after matchday four.

HERE ARE THE THREE KEY THINGS SPOTTED AS THE GAME UNRAVELLED:
KELVIN MADZONGWE OUTSTANDING

With Gift Bello suspended, Madzongwe slotted in as centre back and oh boy he was cool, calm and ultimately comfortable.

Not only did he defend perfectly, but he also came up with the goods in attack registered an assist as his goalbound header was tapped into the nets by Gift Mbweti.

Overally his command, steadiness, good ball timing, switch of play and long searching balls over the Whawha defence was superb. My man of the match and that of the coach too.

GIFT MBWETI CREATIVE AGAIN

You have to give it to the coach Mapeza and the player.

I don’t know how you do it coach because any position you play Mbweti he always shines.

Against Whawha the boy was impressive his intelligence suits him in any position.

An asset for the club and fits the coach’s plan as he wants every player to learn how to play in different positions.

TACTICAL ASTUTENESS AND TECHNICAL APTITUDE OF THE ENTIRE TEAM

All in all good performance by the lads.

In terms of organisation, shape, tactical application the team was was spot on.

The creativity, tempo, smooth transitions, alertness and variation was evident in overdose.

A Chibuku Super six, seven or eight pack was there for the taking if the lads had been more clinical in front of goal.

However, the good thing is that the boys created chances and were found in the right positions.

Well done, coach Mapeza and technical team I thoroughly enjoyed the game.

How I wish the life President George Save Mawere, Club President Dr Fabian Mashingaidze and die-hard fans led by Chairman Kaygee, Chills Mufandaedza, DRC based Joe Verenga, Roddie Mazambara, Lisa Sisale, Kephas Maronga, the missing ZBC cameras were all there to capture the magic and Pure Platinum Play.

Joga Bonito reinvented in Zvishavane starring Chief Producer Norman Mapeza and cast.
