NEWARK, USA, November 13, 2023 – Zimbabwean dancehall maestro Winky D continues to make waves on the international stage, clinching the Best Reggae/Dancehall Artiste award at the Annual African Entertainment Awards, USA (AEAUSA) held at the Newark Symphony Hall in the United States.
The AEAUSA seeks to recognize excellence among Africans across various sectors, including entertainment, entrepreneurship, and community engagement.
Winky D’s victory comes as no surprise, as he once again proves his prowess in the reggae/dancehall genre.
In a category that included heavyweight contenders such as Jamaican reggae dancehall musicians Buju Banton and Popcaan, as well as Ghanaian reggae dancehall singer Shatta Wale, Winky D emerged victorious.
This marks his second win in the same category, having previously secured the award in 2020.
Expressing his gratitude on social media, Winky D credited his success to the unwavering support of his fans.

Jah Prayzah, another Zimbabwean artist, also took home an award for Best Male Artiste East/South/North Africa.

Songbird Gemma Griffiths received the Best Female East/South/North award, while South Africa-based Zimbabwean singer Lynol “Mr Brown” Siwela won the Best Collaboration award for his duet “MaGear” featuring South African singer Makhadzi.
