Wuhan Three Towns return to winning ways in Chinese Super League

WUHAN – After back-to-back defeats, Wuhan Three Towns recovered from their sluggishness with a 1-0 victory over the Tianjin Jinmen Tigers in the Chinese Super League (CSL) on Saturday.

Wuhan went on the offensive early on when Brazil striker Marcao’s header bounced off the bar in the second minute and Brazil striker Davidson’s powerful volley was blocked 10 minutes later by the Tianjin goalkeeper Fang Jingqi.

Wuhan opened the deadlock in the 71st minute when Marcao converted a corner kick from team-mate Deng Zhuoxiang to score the game’s only goal.

“The victory is very important for us. After suffering two straight defeats, people were skeptical about us. The victory helps us both mentally and physically,” Wuhan head coach Pedro Pineda said.
