Malawi cleric, Shepherd Bushiri, on Thursday handed over 14 infusion pumps worth K10.5 million to Kamuzu Central Hospital (KCH).
The leader of Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG) also disclosed his ambition to construct a state-of-the-art children’s ward in honour of his late daughter, Israella.
Speaking during a brief ceremony held at KCH, Bushiri said his plan is to construct a mega ward which will have modern facilities so that children with complications are not referred abroad.
“When my team came here for ground inspection, it is when they were told of the immediate need for infusion pumps. So this donation here is just part of my bigger plan of the ward,” he said.
KCH Director, Jonathan Ngoma, expressed gratitude to Bushiri, whom he called a friend of the people.
“Infusion pumps are in short supply, as such, this donation has eased a great problem at our hospital,” he said.
Ngoma also welcomed Bushiri vision of constructing a modern children’s ward, adding that it is always wonderful to see Malawians coming in to help their nation.
