HARARE – Dancehall star Soul Jah Love, real name, Soul Musaka has died.
The talented musician died at Mbuya Dorcas Hospital on Tuesday evening after succumbing to diabetes complications.
According to a close friend Sauro (as Soul Jah Love was referred to) was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital where he was taken by his friends.
“It is true Soul Jah Luv is gone. He was pronounced dead here upon arrival. It’s a dark day for all of us,” said the source.
According to a doctor’s report, Soul Jah Love had no pulse upon admission and his sugar level was high.
Tributes have been pouring out for the Mbare-bred artist whose art of singing was relatively unique and made him a revolutionary in his own way.
A number of artists and prominent personalities among them Winky D, Enzo Ishall, Passion Java and Hopewell Chin’ono took to social media to express their grief.
Soul Jah Love rose to prominence in 2012 with hit tracks such as “Simudza Musoro” , “Mbare” , “This Time” , “Ndini Uya Uya” among others.
He was 31.
