ZHENGZHOU – Wuhan Three Towns continued their dominance in the Chinese Super League (CSL) after thrashing Henan Jianye 3-0 at Zhengzhou Hanghai Stadium to extend their unbeaten run to 13 in as many games this season.
Goals from Brazilian forward Marcos Vinicius Amaral Alves simply known as Marcão, Zhang Xiaobin and Romanian national Nicolae Stanciu ensured the CSL walked away with victory Wednesday in a highly entertaining match.
Wuhan Three Towns started the match on the front foot and could have opened their account in the 5th minute but Marcão saw his headed effort saved by keeper Shi Xiaotian.
The visitors kept on piling pressure on the hosts and deservedly won a penalty in the 12th minute after Bosnian defender Toni Šunjić tripped Brazilian winger Davidson on the edge of the box.
Marcão made no mistake from the spot kick to open the account for the runaway log leaders.
Henan Jianye immediately regrouped and could have levelled terms five minutes later but saw the effort of Polish midfielder Adrian Mierzejewski crush agonisingly against the crossbar.
Zhang Xiaobin was next on the score-sheet in the 73rd minute after a beautiful team play saw Xu Haoyang setup the former for a curled goal.
Stanciu made sure Wuhan Three Towns coached by Pedro Morilla ruthlessly whip their opponents with the last goal in the 90th minute.
