Zesco clears over 60pc connection backlog

ZESCO Limited has disclosed that it has so far managed to clear over 60 percent of the 67, 000 connection backlog, bringing the total number still outstanding to 27, 000.

LUSAKA – Power utility ZESCO Limited has disclosed that it has so far managed to clear over 60 percent of the 67, 000 connection backlog, bringing the total number still outstanding to 27, 000.

As of 31st December 2021, Zesco had a total number of 67, 000 people waiting to be connected to the national grid.

ZESCO spokesperson Henry Kapata disclosed that as of June 5th 2022, 40, 000 connections had been done, with the backlog now standing at 27, 000.

Kapata said the power utility is determined to ensuring that it clears the remaining backlog by December 31st 2022.

He has since appealed to customers to be patient as all those who are on the existing connection waiting list will be connected by December 2022.

Kapata also revealed that the ZESCO management will soon update Zambia on the way forward regarding the issuance of new quotations.
