Zim Hockey Team Through To AFCON Semi Finals

ACCRA — Zimbabwe national ladies hockey team are through to the semi finals of the Africa Cup of Nations in Accra, Ghana after a 1-1 draw with Namibia on Thursday afternoon.

ACCRA — Zimbabwe national ladies hockey team are through to the semi finals of the Africa Cup of Nations in Accra, Ghana after a 1-1 draw with Namibia on Thursday afternoon.

Sensational Tinodiwanashe Elijah put Zimbabwe in the lead after 43 minutes before Myburgh Taramarie equalised for Namibia eight minutes later.

The 16-year-old Elijah has been in top form at the tournament with two goals in three games.

The hockey team lost its first match 3-0 to South Africa before recovering to defeat Uganda 5-0 in their second game.

Zimbabwe finished second in Pool A behind powerhouse South Africa.

Zimbabwe are now waiting to know their opponent in the semis.
