BEIJING – Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to China, Martin Chedondo, has proposed an international football friendly match between the Warriors and China to further strengthen the robust bilateral relationship between the two nations.
The proposal was made during the fifth awards ceremony of the Jadel Football Academy (JFA) in Beijing on Saturday 16th December 2023, where Chedondo was the guest of honor.
The Jadel Football Academy, owned by former Zimbabwe international player Walter Musanhu, has become a cornerstone of Zimbabwe’s football presence in China.
Through the academy, the two countries have engaged in cultural exchanges, with Zimbabwean youngsters earning scholarships in China.
Chedondo commended the Jadel Football Academy for its role in uplifting youngsters, stating, “It is my sincere hope that while JFA has paved the way with its junior football activities, there is scope for Zimbabwe and China to organize football exchanges at various levels, such as playing friendly matches between our two senior national teams. Such initiatives will augment the excellent bilateral relationship between our two countries.”
The ambassador congratulated the JFA players, acknowledging them as the driving force behind the academy’s achievements.
He also expressed gratitude to the technical staff, management, and parents for their commitment and support.

Walter Musanhu, owner of the Jadel Football Academy, celebrated the academy’s growth and expressed its ambition to become part of the global football family.
Musanhu emphasized the academy’s focus on sports science and modern training methods to adapt to the evolving world of football.
The past year has seen notable achievements for JFA, including a cultural exchange program in Germany and seven players from the Zimbabwe wing attending high-profile matches in China.
Four players were selected for a potential scholarship program in Germany, and Grade 5 and Grade 6 teams won the Beijing International Junior League Championship.
“As an ambitious football academy, JFA strives to become part of the global football family. Our target is to keep growing to be amongst the best football academies in the world,” said Musanhu.
The proposal for a friendly match between the Warriors and China adds a new dimension to the existing cultural and educational ties, enhancing the diplomatic relations between the two nations through the universal language of football.
