LONDON – Liverpool secured a crucial 2-0 victory against Burnley on Tuesday, propelling them to the summit of the Premier League.
Darwin Nunez, who recently broke his goal drought, played a pivotal role in Liverpool’s ascent to the top.
The visitors quickly seized the initiative at Turf Moor as Nunez found the net early in the match, marking his eighth goal of the season.
This goal marked the end of Nunez‘s 12-game goalless streak since his last strike against Bournemouth in the League Cup on November 1.

Despite a flurry of missed opportunities, the Reds managed to maintain their lead, with Diogo Jota sealing the win in the late stages of the game.
The victory now places Liverpool two points ahead of second-placed Arsenal, who still have a game in hand and can reclaim the top spot with a win against West Ham on Thursday.
Reflecting on the team’s position at the top, manager Jurgen Klopp acknowledged, “That’s nice. It will probably change, and that’s no problem. It was not perfect, but we are where we are.”
After drawing with Manchester United and Arsenal in their previous fixtures leading up to Christmas, the win against Burnley serves as a crucial boost to Liverpool’s aspirations for the league title.
