AFCON 2021: Zimbabwe target Malawi scalp in epic battle

Jordan Zemura trained with the Zimbabwe national team for the first time after arriving in Bana, Cameroon as Zimbabwe shifted focus on Malawi in an encounter slated for Friday.

YAOUNDE – The Warriors recorded another clean bill of health after all the players and the technical team members tested negative to COVID-19 in tests conducted late Wednesday in Bana, Cameroon.

With most teams being affected by COVID-19 including Zimbabwe’s Group B opponents at the Africa Cup of Nations Senegal and Malawi, the Warriors continue to kick out the virus owing to the rigorous health precautionary measures being implemented by the medical team led by Nick Munyonga and Edward Chagonda.

Warriors captain Knowledge Musona who had flue like symptoms which were feared to be COVID-19 related, tested negative but however sat out of the training session on Wednesday.

Midfielder Kundai Benyu who received a knock during the match against Senegal also didn’t train as he was still feeling some pain.

Jordan Zemura trained with the team for the first time after arriving in Bana yesterday having arrived in Cameroon on Tuesday evening.

The Warriors take on Malawi on Friday needing a win to keep their hopes of qualifying for the knock out stages alive.
