HARARE – The manhunt for Thomas Nyamhunga, who shocked the community of Mufakose on Sunday night by stabbing to death one child and injuring another, has come to an end with his arrest in Waterfalls, Harare.
Nyamhunga, residing at house number 78 Crowbrough Way in Mufakose, had become the subject of a police search following the tragic incident at his residence.
The murder victim, Emmanuel Tinenyasha Mauka, aged five, and the injured child, Andile Tawananyasha Mauka, aged eight, were attacked under unclear circumstances on Sunday night.
The older sister of the victims managed to escape unharmed from the horrifying incident.
National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the arrest, stating that Nyamhunga is now in custody and is expected to appear in court soon.
The suspect was apprehended at a house in Waterfalls, where he had reportedly gone into hiding.
The swift action by law enforcement in capturing the suspect provides a degree of relief to the community and the affected family.
