PARIS – Marshall Munetsi, a midfielder for French League 1 side Reims, has joined the FIFPRO Global Player Council, which represents the rights and interests of professional football players worldwide.
After being added to the council this week together with Kenyan Enez Mango, Rasheedat Ajibade of Nigeria, he became the only Zimbabwean member.
The Global Player Council is a forum for international-experienced active players, ensuring that opinions from men’s and women’s football as well as various leagues are heard.
Munetsi, a former Orlando Pirates utility player, was pleased with the addition to the global forum.
“Being a part of the Global Player Council means we can help footballers worldwide – such as protecting players against fake agents, or against government interference. I’m eager to get started.”

Munetsi is currently linked with a move to Premier League clubs Arsenal and Brighton but nothing concrete has emerged yet.
He is seen as a vital player by bookmakers to be a backup option for Thomas Partey but the Gunners have a lot of options to explore with Leicester City star Youri Tielemans being one of them.
