Zimbabwe international Bruce Kangwa, has officially signed a two-year deal with Harare-based football club CAPS United, concluding negotiations on Monday.

HARARE, Zimbabwe Former Highlanders and Azam FC skipper, Bruce Kangwa, has officially signed a two-year deal with Harare-based football club CAPS United, concluding negotiations yesterday (Monday).

The contract, which includes an option to extend based on performance and fitness, marks Kangwa’s return to Zimbabwe after his seven-year stint with Tanzanian giants Azam FC.

Kangwa’s manager, George Deda, expressed gratitude to the CAPS United management for their swift and decisive action in securing the player’s signature amid interest from multiple clubs.

He acknowledged the interest shown by CAPS United, emphasising the importance of Kangwa feeling wanted by the team.

“It’s true, Kangwa is now a CAPS United player, and on his behalf, we would like to thank the CAPS United management led by Honourable Farai Jere and coach Lloyd Chitembwe for showing great interest in Kangwa,” said Deda.

While Kangwa had been linked with a return to his former club, Highlanders, Deda clarified that discussions were held with Bosso’s hierarchy, but no concrete offer was presented.

He highlighted the need for Kangwa, a family man, to secure his future and provide for his family.

“Last season Bruce missed the chance to join Simba Bhora because he was still waiting (for Highlanders to make a move). One window closed, and we couldn’t let another one close as well; he is a family man, he needs to provide for his family,” explained Deda.

Despite interest from various clubs in the capital, Kangwa and his management settled on CAPS United, citing the team’s rich history and a favorable contractual offer.

The player himself expressed excitement about the move, emphasizing CAPS United’s seriousness in securing his signature.

“If a team is serious, they do what CAPS did and move swiftly. CAPS United is a big team, and I will do my best to try and help them win trophies. That is what we are promising as a team and everyone at the club,” Kangwa stated.

Known as a versatile utility player, Kangwa achieved considerable success during his time in Tanzania, winning numerous accolades with Azam FC.

Despite leaving without a league championship, he captained the team and participated in prestigious competitions like the African Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup.

Manager George Deda praised Kangwa as the ultimate professional, describing him as humble, hardworking, and having a strong sense of belonging to any team he represents.

Kangwa initiated his professional career at Railstars before joining Highlanders under the guidance of Madinda Ndlovu in 2009.
