BULAWAYO – The 2023 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season began on a positive note for Dynamos as they secured a crucial victory against Hwange at Barbourfields Stadium on Saturday.
The match, which was a bit dull, saw Dynamos emerge victorious with a 1-0 scoreline.
The Glamour Boys started the game on a high note, dominating their opponents with a series of attacks, but they were unable to convert their chances into goals.
However, things changed when coach Hebert Maruwa made a tactical substitution in the 65th minute, bringing in Denver Mukamba for Arthur Musiyiwa and Tinashe Makanda a minute later.
Mukamba had an instant impact, showcasing his dazzling skills as he evaded three Chipangano defenders before passing the ball to an unmarked Makanda, who scored with a screamer in the 69th minute.
The Hwange goalkeeper, Nedrick Madeya, was left helpless as the ball found the back of the net.
Even though Hwange tried to equalize in the remaining minutes of the match, they were unable to break down a resilient Dynamos defense, who held on to secure all three points.
The win is an important one for Dynamos, who started their campaign under the guidance of a new head coach.
The team will be hoping to build on this result in their upcoming matches as they aim to challenge for the league title.
