HARARE – Talented comedian Gringo Jnr, real name, Taurai Boora is set to officially launch his PWAAAAKA Skits project at a colorful ceremony slated for Harare Gardens on Friday 8th July 2022.

Gringo Jnr who is the son of the late actor Lazarus Boora (Gringo) will also double the event by celebrating his birthday. He turned 28 years on Thursday.

Boora who burst into the limelight as Gringaldinho years ago has been making waves online through his Pwaaaaka Skits project which has helped him to bridge the gap left by his late father Gringo.

He has managed to receive support from Enock Chihombori, Chati Butawo, Blessing Chimhowa and Stellah January among other great yesteryear content creators.

Pwaaaaka Skits director Chimhowa, populary known as Mbudziyadhura explained the reason behind the launch of the platform and the aim of the group going forward.

“Pwaaaaka Skits is a platform of Gringo Jnr on Facebook and YouTube where you can find his projects as we try to uplift him and keep the Gringo legacy alive.

“We are launching it today and we thought of combining it with his birthday celebrations by bringing friends and relatives together.

“It is just an official launch of Pwaaaaka skits but for those who have been following the events they know what it is all about but we just decided to do an official launch of the project,” he said.

Chimhowa also explained the meaning of Pwaaaaka which he said is a Shona ideophone used to describe laughing.

“We want to carry the Gringo legacy forward. Our aim is actually to do better than what his father did in terms of entertainment.

“He was known to be one of the best comedians but if you look at the young man he is an actor, MC and dancer. We will try to combine all those things, that is what we are trying to achieve as Pwaaaaka skits.”

The event dubbed “Gringo Rise and Act” will be graced by gospel musician Mambo Dhuterere, Jonah Chivasa and Prince Madhiwali Drummer.

The launch will begin at 5pm and end at 9pm with tickets going for $5 (ordinary) and $20 (VIP) as Boora sets sight on keeping his father’s legacy alive.
