HARARE – A Zimbabwean man from Macheke has been killed by a pack of hyenas in the east of the country.
State media reported Thursday that two other men were attacked and injured by hyenas in the same area last week.
The victim was named Searchmore Chauke, 38.
He was reportedly killed by hyenas over the weekend while herding cattle in Macheke, in the east of the country.
A national park spokesperson said rangers had been sent to the area to hunt and kill the animals.
Lethal attacks by hyenas on locals were rare.
But there have been a number of reports of farmer-hyena conflicts across the country.
Earlier this month, villagers in Umzingwane in the south of the country reported numerous hyena attacks on their livestock.
