Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) made the anticipated decision on Wednesday to appoint Norman Mapeza the Warriors caretaker coach.

HARARE – Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) made the anticipated decision on Wednesday to appoint Norman Mapeza the Warriors caretaker coach.

Mapeza had been tipped by bookmakers as the best man to land the post following the dismissal of a Croatian clown that had been in charge of Zimbabwe senior football men’s team since January 2019.

The football governing board also appointed Taurai Mangwiro as the first assistant, Mandla Mpofu as his second assistant and Energy Murambadoro as the Goalkeepers Coach.

In his capacity as caretaker coach, Mapeza is expected to take charge of the Warriors for back to back World Cup qualifiers against Ghana this October.

The national team was left without a coach after Zdravko Logarusic was fired on Sunday over poor performance the latest being a shocking 0-1 defeat to Ethiopia.

During his tenure as the coach, Loga won just one of his 14 matches, in charge.

According to the information, should Mapeza impress, appointed on a full time basis and given the mandate to take charge of the 2021 AFCON finals in Cameroon next January.
