HARARE – Opposition party, MDC Alliance‘s Youth Assembly held a very fruitful National Council meeting deep in Mashonaland East rural area of Dema on Saturday.
A first of its own kind, the Assembly had to hold the meeting in a rural area set up as a symbol of commitment to go rural ahead of the 2023 general elections.
MDC Alliance Youth Assembly national spokesperson, Stephen Sarkozy Chuma gave an update of the important meeting and resolutions passed.
“The Council resolved to escalate the fight against dictatorship by embarking on an intensified voter registration campaign with a deliberate tilt towards mobilization of the rural electorate,” he said.
Chuma also confirmed that all provincial assemblies reiterated the youth position to make sure that party leader Nelson Chamisa emerges victorious in the upcoming general elections.
“The assembly agreed that they will by any means necessary put an end to the anti-people regime of ZANU PF fronted by Emmerson Mnangagwa,” said Chuma.
At the meeting, the party’s youth wing also discussed the plight of its arrested member Mako Haruzivishe.
“The council also noted with concern the nervous conditions of the Assembly’s Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Makomborero Haruzivishe whose life is in danger at Harare Remand Prison.
“In that regard the Assembly resolved to fight tooth and nail to make sure that Cde Mako is safely released from prison. Mako’s freedom is our number one priority,” concluded Chuma.
