JOHANNESBURG – Malawian striker Gabadinho Mhango fine form continues as AmaZulu claimed a third successive win in the DStv Premiership with a 3-2 victory over Moroka Swallows FC at Dobsonville Stadium on Friday evening.
Swallows had a spirited start to the game but hesitation during a one-on-one encounter by Waseem Isaacs prevented them from taking the lead.
In the 24th minute, AmaZulu took the lead as Mhango played a one-two with Keagan Buchanan on the edge of the box and completed the back pass for his third consecutive goal.
Usuthu then struggled to retain the lead, when Swallows debutant Keegan Allan attacked from a free kick and headed in the goal.
The host took the lead in the 66th minute as Lindokuhle Mtshali earned a penalty after Abbubaker Mobara drew a foul in the area.
Allan stepped forward and beat Usuthu goalkeeper Veli Mothwa for his brace.
AmaZulu responded well as they pushed forward in pursuit of the equaliser later on and were rewarded after goalkeeper Thakasani Mbanjwa helped a corner-kick into his own net.
Mbongeni Gumede made sure that the visitors emerged victorious in stoppage time after a smart leap in the box for a headed effort in a pin-point free-kick.
