BLANTYRE — Former Malawian international Esau Kanyenda feels there is no better time for Gabadinho Mhango to make a move to Europe, following an impressive Africa Cup of Nations campaign with Malawi.
“I think he still has a chance to go to Europe and I think the time is right now. If he does not go to Europe this year, I think it will be bad for him.
“This is the best time for Mhango to go to Europe. He is one of the best strikers. When he is focused, you can see that there is a top player there,” Kanyenda told the media.
“He has shown people that he is still the Gaba that we know, although at Pirates no one was giving him a chance. Even at Pirates, they will start thinking that Gaba needs to start playing.
“The goal he scored can be one of the best goals that has been scored at the AFCON tournament. It’s one of the best goals I’ve ever seen.”
Mhango who turns out for DStv Premiership side, Orlando Pirates was in prolific form for Malawi at the Africa Cup of Nations Cameroon.
He scored three goals to help Malawi reach the round of 16 in which they bowed out after losing 1-2 to Morocco.
