JOHANNESBURG – South Africa’s former Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng is set to be the presidential candidate for the All African Alliance Movement (AAAM) for the country’s 2024 elections.
The party was founded in early 2022.
Its presidential candidate, Mogoeng, served as South Africa’s Chief Justice from September 2011 to October 2021.
The party says it aims to tackle inequality, address imbalances in our justice system and promote peace and justice and a corruption-free South Africa.
AAAM also claims it wants to bridge the gap between the state, church and traditional indigenous organizations.
Mogoeng was in the middle of a storm earlier this year following comments of him supporting Israel in 2021.
He later published an apology in February though he said it was not coming from his heart but because of pressure.
The former Chief Justice is not the only high profile personality interested in having a go at the 2023 election with former Democratic Alliance leader Mmusi Maimane recently launching his party.
Maimane’s party is called Build One South Africa (BOSA).
