GABORONE – Zimbabwean stars Walter Mukanga, Takunda Sadiki and Tendai Nyumasi have started the Botswana Premier League season with a bang.
Five games into the Botswana Premier League, Mukanga a former Dynamos, Ngezi Platinum Stars and Harare City midfielder has turned the hands of time with sublime performances for Masitaoka FC where he has established himself as a key player for the team.
Mukanga scored a beautiful goal on Tuesday night in Masitaoka’s 3-0 win away to Notwane.
Mukanga who is Masitaoka’s dead ball specialist, scored with his trademark stylish kick in the 19th minute which was sandwiched by goals from Gaamangwe Sethibe.
Former Highlanders, Dynamos and Mutare City striker Sadiki scored the only goal for log leaders Gaborone United as they succumbed to their first defeat of the season in a 2-1 loss to army side BDF XI.
Sadiki who comes from a footballing family that has Tapuwa Kapini, Kabwe Warriors captain Ali Sadiki and Yadah Stars winger Issa, gave United the lead in the second half before they allowed BDF XI to wrestle the game away from them towards the end of the match.
Sadiki has found the target twice and came up with as many assists so far this season.
Revelation in front of goal for Zimbabweans has come in the form Sua Flamingoes captain Tendai Nyumasi who has scores five goals so far and can increase tally should he score on Wednesday against Orapa United.
Nyumasi who has been in the Botswana Premier League for the past 10 years, winning the league title with Mochudi Centre Chiefs has been lethal in front of goal for Flamingoes who are coached by former Highlanders and Warriors coach Rahman Gumbo.
Flamingoes are also home to former CAPS United striker Dominic Chungwa and former TelOne forward Mcebisi Moyo.
