Nakamba continues fine form in Carabao victory

Aston Villa midfielder Marvelous Nakamba had another great day in his team's routine victory over Bristol City in the third round of the Carabao Cup. The match ended 3-0 in favor of the Villains.

BIRMINGHAM – Aston Villa midfielder Marvelous Nakamba had another great day in his team’s routine victory over Bristol City in the third round of the Carabao Cup.

The match ended 3-0 in favour of the Villains.

Villa opened their account in the 11th minute through Egyptian forward Anwar El Ghazi before new signing Bertrand Traore added a second of the night few minutes later to ensure a memorable debut in Villa colors. 

Substitute Ollie Watkins added a third in the 73rd minute, shortly after his introduction, to put the seal on a commanding display at Ashton Gate from the visitors, who now go on to face Stoke City in the next round of the competition. 

It was Nakamba however, who caught the attention with another polished performance at the heart of the midfield.

The midfielder stifled the opponents’ attack and made sure the team was safe going forward in search of goals. Marvelous Nakamba played the entire 90 minutes. 

The victory caps an impressive start to the season for Dean Smith’s side having won their opening three matches in all competitions.

Meanwhile, Jordan Zemura had an uneventful day as his Bournemouth crashed out of the Carabao Cup at Etihad stadium.

The promising Zimbabwe international defender Jordan Zemura was introduced after 28 minutes for Bournemouth as they lost 2-1 to Manchester City in the Carabao Cup.
