JOHANNESBURG – President Cyril Ramaphosa applauded entrepreneur and philanthropist Strive Masiyiwa for helping the African Union in sourcing for COVID-19 health equipment and vaccines.
The South African president was speaking at the 34th Ordinary Session of the African Union Assembly which saw him handover the reigns of the chairperson to his DRC counterpart President Felix Tshisekedi.
Ramaphosa outlined the different things achieved during his tenure which began in February last year where he took over from Ethiopia’s Abiy Ahmed.
The tenure of South Africa was not smooth as it was immediately welcomed by the outbreak and rapid spread of COVID-19 to a number of African countries.
