LUSAKA — President Edgar Lungu has joined the nation in mourning late Chief Mukupa Kaoma of the Lungu people of Lunte district in Northern Province.
In a statement issued by Mr Isaac Chipampe, special assistant to the President for press and public relations, the Zambian president paid tribute to the gallant Chief Kaoma.
President Lungu said he learnt with deep sorrow the passing of His Royal Highness Mukupa Kaoma who died on Sunday last week at the University Teaching Hospital in Lusaka.
“On behalf of the Government, people of Zambia and indeed on my own behalf, I wish to convey our deepest condolences to the royal family and the people of Lunte District, ” the President said.
Lungu also expressed his deep sorrow for the loss of a number of traditional leaders who have died in the recent past across the country.
“In the recent past, we have lost a number of traditional leaders across the country, it is indeed a big loss to us. We deeply sympathise with the bereaved royal families and respective chiefdoms,” the President said.
The President prays that the bereaved royal families and respective chiefdoms may find fortitude and comfort in God Almighty.
