ZAOGA founder Ezekiel Guti dies aged 100

Prominent evangelist, educationist, and author Archbishop Ezekiel Guti has passed away at the age of 100, announced the Zimbabwe Assemblies of God Africa (ZAOGA) church which he founded in 1960.

HARARE – Prominent evangelist, educationist, and author Archbishop Ezekiel Guti has passed away at the age of 100, announced the Zimbabwe Assemblies of God Africa (ZAOGA) church which he founded in 1960.

The news of his death was shared by ZAOGA national chairman Apostle Joseph Guti in a video posted on the church’s social media platforms.

Archbishop Guti, a visionary and iconic leader, peacefully departed from this world on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, after faithfully and sacrificially serving the Lord for over eight decades.

In May 2023, Archbishop Guti celebrated his centenary birthday, with President Emmerson Mnangagwa in attendance.

His ZAOGA church, also known as the Forward in Faith Ministries International, is one of the largest in Zimbabwe and has branches worldwide.

Ezekiel Guti rich legacy

Archbishop Guti’s contributions extend beyond his ministry.

In 2012, he established the Ezekiel Guti University in Bindura, reportedly at a cost of US$100 million.

Together with his wife, Eunor Guti, he served as the joint chancellors of the university.

He is also recognized as the author of over a dozen Christian books and played a key role in the construction of the Mbuya Dorcas Hospital in Harare, which opened its doors in 2012.

Archbishop Guti is survived by his wife, Eunor Guti, and their six daughters: Sarah Rusere, La-Verne Simukai, Fiona Arthurs, Dorcas Jaricha, Gracious Chikore, and Ethanim Nyajeka.

Tragically, their only son, Ezekiel Junior, who faced speech impairment and physical disabilities, passed away in a drowning incident in 2017.

The legacy of Archbishop Ezekiel Guti will be remembered not only within the church but also through his contributions to education, literature, and healthcare in Zimbabwe.

His passing marks the end of an era, leaving behind a lasting impact on the lives of many.
