Proteas include Marco Jansen in squad for ICC T20 World Cup

Fast left-arm bowler Marco Jansen has been included in the 15-man squad for the T20 World Cup in Australia to replace injured Dwaine Pretorius.

JOHANNESBURG (EWN) — Fast left-arm bowler Marco Jansen has been included in the 15-man squad for the T20 World Cup in Australia to replace injured Dwaine Pretorius.

Jansen was originally named as a traveling reserve by the South Africa National Cricket Selection Committee but now has the option to play after Pretorius was sent off after he broke his left thumb in the recent T20 International Series against India.

The inclusion of Jansen will add another dimension to the Proteas bowling offense, which previously featured a left-arm pace bowler with Wayne Parnell.

Titans sailor Lizaad Williams will take Jansen’s place among the reserves.

The tournament will also serve as the final outing for head coach Mark Boucher, who is in charge of the team after stepping down to take charge of the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League.
