CAIRO – Al Ahly announced on Monday they are parting ways with manager Pitso Mosimane after 20 months of success at the top Egyptian club.
The Egyptian football club made the announcement on Monday after the South African manager held a meeting with Al Ahly management to discuss his future with the club.
“The president of the club, Manhoud El Khatib, met with the president of the football company Al Ahly, Yassin Mansour, club board member Hossam Ghaly and members of the planning committee to discuss Mosimane’s future with the club.
“During the encounter, they all decided that he should continue his mission with Al Ahly following the achievements he was able to achieve during the previous period,” the club said in a statement.
He joined Mamelodi Sundowns in September 2020 and during his stay won the Egyptian Premier League and consecutive CAF Champions League titles in 2019-20 and 2020-21.
“However, in the meeting held earlier, Mosimane asked to leave and that he is satisfied with the performance he has had with the club.
“Later, Mosimane’s decision was discussed and it was decided to approve his request to leave the club and to thank him for the performance he has achieved with the club,” the statement added.
