Zimbabwe born South African rugby legend Tendai ‘Beast’ Mtawarira has been appointed UNICEF Regional Ambassador for the Eastern and Southern Africa region.
As a UNICEF Regional Ambassador, Mtawarira, who also has his own foundation that helps children said he will use his voice to bring much needed attention to UNICEF’s humanitarian and development priorities in the Eastern and Southern Africa region.
“I am so honoured to take on this new role. I believe education is the great equalizer and every child on this continent should be able to access quality learning and fulfill their potential,” Mtawarira said.
The 2019 World Cup winner toured the Mukuru informal settlement in Kenya recently to hear their story and promised to help in uplifting their lives.
