DURBAN – Zambia claimed a record-equalling sixth COSAFA Cup on Sunday after beating Namibia 1-0 in the 2022 final at Moses Mabhida Stadium, South Africa.
Albert Kangwanda’s spectacular extra-time goal was enough to secure Zambia the 2022 Hollywoodbets COSAFA Cup.
Chipolopolo dominated throughout the match but claimed their winner in extra-time which ensured they equal Zimbabwe’s record of six COSAFA Cup titles.
Zimbabwe were absent from the COSAFA tournament because of the FIFA suspension from international football due to government interference.
In a replay of the 1998 final, Zambia played all the football as Namibia tried to frustrate their opponents but the Aljosa Asanovic coached Chipolopolo had the last laugh thanks to substitute Kangwanda.
