HARARE – Forgotten chanter Maggikal has become the latest artist to wade into the ‘death of Zimdancehall’ genre debate by revealing that those saying it are hallucinating.
Maggikal, real name, Godknows Shumba made his feelings known through his latest song “Ine Fire” off the trending Mhemherero Riddim produced by talented producer DJ Cymplex.
The dancehall chanter who rose to fame around 2014 during the time of the Hatimire Kusimbisa Dangerzone (HKD) clan said the genre is the “past, present and future” judged by its existence in the ghetto.
Maggikal also took a dig at controversial opinionist Tawona Shadaya as he likened those who are calling Zimdancehall a finished movement to his ‘hallucinations’.
For a long time now the debate on whether Zimdancehall is still a force to reckon with has been trending online with some saying music fans had already switched allegiance to Zim Hip Hop.
The discussion has however been shot down by those loyal to the movement among them Seh Calaz, Fantan Dweet, Blessing Jena popularly known as Havok ZW and Vokal Bakasa.
