10 pupils seen in Manicaland school ‘kissathon’ video expelled
MUTARE – A school in Manicaland has expelled 10 students who were seen kissing and fondling in a viral video.
The students are seen in a classroom with virtually no furniture, in pairs kissing and touching each other passionately in the one-minute, 38-second video.
St. Therese Catholic High School in Makoni West, 60km from Rusape, sent students home after the video was widely shared on social media last week.
The video was reportedly recorded by a classmate.
The Manica Post reported on Friday that all of the boys featured in the video are passing their final exams at an acceptable level, but some of the girls are in Form 2 and Form 3.
The school principal, Euphrasie Mudiwa, declined to comment on the incident and referred questions to the church.
Edward Shumba, director of education for the province, said the incident was under investigation.
Manica Post, citing sources at the school, said all students were expelled from the school. These writing tests now came from home.
Sainte-Thérèse was founded in the 1960s as a teacher training school before being transformed into a day school after independence in 1983.
The school introduced a girls’ boarding school in 2016, becoming Makoni West’s first boarding school.
