GUANGZHOU – Appreciate Africa Network (AAN), who are the organisers of the prestigious Pride of Africa Asia Pacific Awards have opened nominations for the 2023 edition.
AAN recently opened the nomination process for the awards which have become an annual feature in the Asia Pacific region since their inception in 2013.
Pride of Africa Asia Pacific Awards are presented yearly by the Appreciate Africa Network, which Dr. Samantha Sibanda founded in 2013 in Beijing, China.
The awards honour and value the efforts of individuals and groups of people who have significantly impacted Asia-Pacific through their devotion and dedication, demonstrating their excellence and making them champions of various initiatives that carry the flag of Africa high.
Last year, AAN held a successful ceremony for the awards in Guangzhou though some nominees and eventual winners could not physically attend due to COVID-19 restrictions.
But with the recent COVID policy relaxation in China making life seem to return to normalcy, AAN director Dr Sibanda is confident the 10th edition will create a lasting memory.
“This year’s edition will be a special one for us as we will be celebrating our 10th anniversary. The nominations are going on and it’s as usual, we will close the process end of January,” she said.
“We always cover Asia-Pacific though for the past two years it’s been hard to have people outside China to come in and attend but this year as things are opening up, we are hoping that the nominees from different Asia-Pacific countries will be able to attend the event scheduled for end of June or early July.”
