BULAWAYO — Sanity has prevailed in the newly formed Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) fronted by Nelson Chamisa following a double candidate registration in Mpopoma for the upcoming by elections.
One of the candidate caught in storm, Bekithemba Nyathi has seen the light and withdrawn his candidature for Ward 9 Mpopoma, Bulawayo.
“Am a proud member of the Citizen Coalition for Change (CCC) led by President Nelson Chamisa.
“Yesterday I filed my nomination papers at the Nomination Court for by election for Ward 9 Mpopoma, Bulawayo.
“However I have since withdrawn my candidature in favour of the Citizen Coalition for Change (CCC) party certified candidate Mr Mabutho.
“I have withdrawn because we can’t afford at this stage to give Zanu PF a chance. This by election gives our party led by our able President Chamisa to deepen its tape roots into the electorate.
“Our small squabbles that emanated from the CCC internal process of confirmating candidates should not interfere with the bigger project for Change in Zimbabwe.
“For this reason, I now throw my weight on the party preferred candidate Mr Mabutho and I will do whatever it takes for him to win Ward 9.
“I also want to take this opportunity to apologize to my leaders, in particular President Chamisa and his Vice Prof Ncube for allowing the small squabbles to spill on to the bigger picture,” wrote Bekithemba Nyathi in a letter dated 27 January 2022.
