Xi celebrates 40 years of China-Angola diplomatic ties

BEIJING (Xinhua) – Chinese President Xi Jinping and Angolan President Joao Lourenco exchanged congratulations on Thursday marking the 40th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two nations.

In his speech, Xi emphasized how since the two countries’ diplomatic relations were established 40 years ago, they have cooperated closely, understood one another, and supported one another when it came to matters involving their respective fundamental interests and main concerns.

The relationship between China and Angola is currently moving forward with sound momentum, and the two countries’ mutual collaboration in a number of areas has produced positive outcomes that have benefited their respective people, according to Xi.

The Chinese leader said he stands ready to work with Lourenco to use the 40th anniversary of diplomatic ties as an opportunity to deepen political mutual trust.

Xi also said China is ready to strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation, enhance people-to-people friendship, and write a new chapter in the robust development of the China-Angola strategic partnership.

He noted that he highly values the development of bilateral relations.

Meanwhile, President Lourenco said since the two countries’ diplomatic connections were established, their relations have been continuously developing.
