DURBAN – Double Action (Botswana) stormed into the semifinals after posting an emphatic win over Lesotho Defense Force in the last Group A match at the ongoing 2021 TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League COSAFA qualifiers in South Africa.
The match ended 6-0 in favour of Double Action who came into the match only needing a draw to sail through as group runners-up after Mamelodi Sundowns (South Africa) had accumulated unmatched points.
Double Action will now face red hot group B winner Black Rhinos Queens (Zimbabwe) in a semifinal match to be played on Thursday while Mamelodi Sundowns will have to wait for the match between Green Buffaloes (Zambia) and TURA Magic (Namibia) to know their opponents.
The match started with the Botswana side on the front foot and they deservedly opened the account 3 minutes into the game through Gaonyadiwe Ontlametse before Lesego Radiakanyo made it 2-0 in the 14th minute.
The other goals from Bonang Otlhagile 27th minute and Lone Kgalaeng 40th minute made sure the game was beyond the reach of the Lesotho side going into halftime.
Radiakanyo completed her brace in the 75th minute before Lesego Pineng put a seal to the game in the 90th minute.
Meanwhile, Mamelodi Sundowns won their match against Manzi Wanderers (Swaziland) 6-1 to complete their ruthless approach at the 2021 TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League COSAFA qualifiers in group matches.
Goals by Channtelle Esau 10th minute, 27th minute, Lelona Daweti 35th minute, 56th minute, Thembelihle Masibi 52nd minute, Khunjolwa Mali 72nd minute were enough for the Lady Brazilians while Manzini got their consolation from Nomvula Sanga in the 67th minute.
