MAPUTO – President Filipe Nyusi has applauded the growth of direct investment by Swiss firms in Mozambique in key sectors including finance, logistics and maritime transport, manufacturing, agriculture, agribusiness, manufacturing, energy, hotels, and tourism.
President Nyusi made the remarks in Maputo on Wednesday during a meeting with his Swiss counterpart, Alain Berset, who is in Mozambique for a three-day working visit to strengthen ties of friendship and cooperation between the two nations.

In response to the President of Mozambique’s request, the Swiss President paid courtesy to the troubled southern African nation.
In their meetings, Nyusi and Berset discussed combating terrorism and climate change as well as the Disarmament, Demobilization, and Reintegration (DDR) process that is now taking place in the nation under the auspices of the peace agreements.
The influence of Switzerland in the nation of Mozambique goes a long way in history with 2019 being the most significant.
The Contact Group, made up of nations that participated in the peace process in preparation for the Peace and National Reconciliation Agreement that the Mozambican government and opposing Renamo forces signed on August 6, 2019, was presided over by Switzerland.
